The basic course
The basic course is conform the protocol of the Mediation Council providing a solid basis for further advanced studies covering the following primary aspects.
The central learning objectives are:
- The person of the mediator
- The dimensions of mediation
- The methods and techniques a mediator must master to fulfil his role as a professional
- The professional standards
The person of the mediator
The mediator must be aware of the impact of his interventions on his clients. He needs to apply his competencies to the benefit of his clients. He has to master a lot of competencies to act as a professional mediator. He must know that he has prejudices and be aware that his gender and former occupation might influence his actions. In the course there will be a lot of attention to develop the competencies you have to master.
The dimensions of mediation
Mediation has become a professional occupation. New developments have made obvious that there more ways leading to Rome. During the course four different models will be highlighted. The new mediator himself shall have to decide which model fits the best to his personality. After the basic course further development and specialization will be offered.
Methods and Techniques
Every model has its own characteristic intervention techniques, varying from paraphrasing, summarizing, the structure of questioning, working with time perspective, paradoxes and caucus. All these different techniques will be introduced and being practiced in role plays.
The professional standards
As mentioned the curriculum of the course is approved by the Mediation Council. Moreover, because of International character of Edumonde Mediation SRL, attention will be paid to the European Code of Conduct for mediators.
Certificate
Having met with all the requirements the participant will have the possibility to receive a certificate for registered mediator from the Romanian Mediation Council. This certificate is in accordance to European Standards. The exam is accordance to the requirements of the Mediation Council in Bucharest. After the examination students can apply for admission as a registered mediator at the Mediation Council.
